Change: The only constant and the only way forward

Change — something I never truly gave much thought to… until now.

I’ve heard all the advice, read the articles, and absorbed more than my fair share of opinions on the subject. Just Google it, and you’ll be flooded with insights from every corner of the internet. But no amount of preaching or passive knowledge ever really hit home for me.

That is, until life decided to teach me in its own way.

It wasn’t one dramatic moment, but a series of quiet, persistent nudges that finally made me understand: change isn’t just inevitable — it’s essential. Essential for growth, for healing, for becoming who you’re meant to be.

I won’t go into the specifics of what led me here –  because the catalysts for change are deeply personal. What shakes one person might barely stir another. But what I do know is this: only when we stop resisting and start embracing change can we truly begin to move forward.

That’s when we inch closer to our purpose — whatever that may be.

What truly matters is that change does happen — sometimes for the better, sometimes not.

The very idea of change can feel overly philosophical, even unrealistic at times. We often resist it, thinking, Can people really change? Can situations actually shift? It’s easy to doubt it — until life shows you otherwise.

But regardless of how it arrives — gently or abruptly — change is something we must learn to accept, even embrace. Not for the sake of sounding wise, but for our own mental peace.

Because when the mind is in constant conflict with change, clarity slips away. Thoughts get clouded, decisions feel heavier, and moving forward becomes difficult.

I’ve come to understand that embracing change isn’t a sign of giving in — it’s a sign of growing up. It reflects adaptability and resilience. The more we align with the shifts around us, the smoother and more purposeful our journey becomes.

And in that alignment, we often find the clarity we’ve been searching for all along.

There are countless moments in life that quietly — or sometimes painfully — remind us that change is the only way forward. And yet, more often than not, we cling to what’s familiar. We resist.

But resistance doesn’t protect us — it traps us.

The more we fight change, the more we spiral into anxiety, frustration, anger, even resentment. In that turmoil, we make mistakes — some minor, others irreversible — and in the process, we risk losing the very people, dreams, and moments we hold closest to our hearts.

Still, despite all of this, there’s a part of me that believes: what’s truly meant for you will find its way back.

Whether it’s a person, a place, a purpose — if it belongs to your journey, it will return. Not always in the form you expect, but in the form you need.

Change may test us, shake us, even break us — but it also clears the path for what’s meant to stay.

Well, sounds like I have started preaching now 😛

Ultimately, this has been one of the most important lessons life has taught me so far. And while most of us already know it somewhere deep down, I felt it was worth sharing — because sometimes, we just need to hear it at the right moment, in the right way. 🙂

On a lighter note — and I say this as someone who isn’t exactly a die-hard Marvel fan — one of the biggest takeaways I had from Thor: Ragnarok was Odin’s line to Thor:
“Ragnarok is inevitable.”

And honestly? So is change.

Something has to end for something new to begin. It’s all part of the cycle — endings, beginnings, growth, evolution. Change might come uninvited or unwanted, but it always comes with a purpose: to realign us with where we’re truly meant to be.

Every change marks a transition — whether it feels good or bad in the moment. So instead of resisting it, try embracing it.
Let it shape you, teach you, shift you.

And while you’re at it, carry the lessons along. Because nothing — not even the happiest or hardest chapters — is permanent.
Everything changes.
Everything evolves.
So you might as well grow with it.
